Our sessions

When children start at the nursery our aim is to help them feel safe, secure, confident and happy.

Our average day looks a little like this...

Drawing Class

Morning sessions

We have a morning session which runs from 9.15 am–12 pm, Monday to Wednesday as well as a session on a Friday in term time.

On arrival a member of the team will always greet you and your child. You will be asked to hang your child's coat, boots and changing bags on their named peg in the messy room.

.

The day starts with free play whilst we wait for everyone to arrive. Children are encouraged to choose their own activities and staff will be led by the children allowing them to use their own ideas in their play.

Snack

Team members sit with the children during snack time and encourage conversation amongst the children. Snacks offered to the children are always healthy and include a variety of fruit and vegetables as well as breadsticks, crackers or cheese. We offer milk or water to drink and we encourage the children to develop their skills by giving them the opportunity to pour their own drinks.

Children are also asked to bring a named beaker of water or juice from home, which they can then drink whenever they want throughout the session.

Activities to explore!

The children are provided with a variety of activities to explore, This could be using different malleable materials on our builders spot; such as shaving foam, ice, real grass and  pasta to name a few! There will always be an art and craft activity available, as well as construction toys. We have a home corner that we change into various different settings such as a fire engine and station. We have story books that are easily accessible as well as staff who are happy to share the stories with the children!

The children also have access to a  computer with simple, child-friendly programmes.

Older children are offered more structured activities to introduce them to areas of learning. These may involve letter and number recognition, name building and simple reading and writing skills.

Outdoor Activities:

Weather permitting, we take the children outside to play every day, we also extend our indoor space to the outdoors as we have a verandah we can use in the warmer weathers.

We do ask you to provide your child with named wellies for outdoor play.

We are able to be flexible with hours during the childs day. This is something you can discuss with us when visiting the nursery.

Lunch club

If you would like your child to attend the lunch club, they will need to come with food and a drink, stored in a named lunchbox.

In order to support our approach to healthy eating we do ask that you send nutritious food. Crisps, cakes and biscuits are allowed in small amounts, but we do want your child to see these as occasional treats. Please do not send in foods containing nuts in any form, or fizzy drinks.

Thank you.

Day sessions

Day sessions

We also run longer sessions from 9.15 am–2.45 pm.

We also run a day session on a Friday from 9.15 am- 1.15pm

The longer sessions consist of more structured activities to prepare the older children for school.

A similar routine to the morning session  is followed in the afternoon, however, we do introduce the children to larger numbers and early phonics through play and games.
